I bought 10 pieces of green shrimps,(not the green cherry ones)last evening. i acclimatised them to my tank over 2 hours(which is my usual practise)... however, upon introduction into the tank, the shrimps started swimming frantically and curiously, their greenish colour took on a red-orangey hue @ the upper half of their bodies.
I expected to see them dead this morning, but they weren't... still swimming frantically as ever.(By the way, 5 of them are berried!!!)
What's wrong? My other shrimps are fine, (10bds,6sakuras,12crs and 80odd sakura shrimplets)
    Please help!! thanks!

As usual, green shrimps (just like orange) will change its color in new environment. Yup, they turned a little orangey but will revert to its original green color in couple of days and look pretty again. So don't worry it is only temporary. After sometime, you will be tempted to their greeness again. I also noticed they loves perching, resting and sleeping on leaves more than on mosses because they tend to be a little shy. You might want to consider adding annubias varieties in your tank too? Where did you get the green shrimp?

what will orange and yellow ones change to?
the colour thingy is fine... was more concerned that they were going to die, think swimming around frantically isn't a good sign.. for ANY shrimps!
actually dreamt that everything in my tank died last night, it was awful!
guess that was how worried i was!

    !
Orange one will have black patches on its body. Can look quite ugly. I kept them in 1 footer tank before and eventually they died. Probably mine not so lucky. You can try one or two pieces to see how it works in your tank. Yellow and snowball will never change color, they are consistent in color from LFS to our home tank. They may even look much better in our own tank if you give them equal care like the rest. That is why snowball and yellow shrimp are quite popular and slightly pricey than the rest (orange, green, tiger..etc)
