Do not need to remove fish when using H202. Just perform water change after and try not to use on live plants. instead remove the leaves instead.

I still think you should consider more on co2. Even with good diffusion, you need the amount, best in ppm with a drop checker or using ph chart. For drop checker, do not use the solution given, instead go to NA and get CAL Aqua Labs Indicator solution. It already is mixed with 4dkh water.

thanks. but T8 better than T5? in term of reach.

What will be the dosage of using H2O2? And can you explain the meaning of "not to use on live plants. instead remove the leaves instead."

How many times should I dose this H2O2? TQ in advance

I used reactor to diffuse the CO2. Struggling with this problem...

Sorry if I sound negative; but the amount of BBA covering every inch of all plants in your tank would be too much a pain to do spot treatment with excel and will likely result in co2 over dose unless you split over many days. I would personally remove all and plant densely. Cut fertilization since new tank and gradually increase the lighting period from 5 to 8hrs over the next few weeks. Use T5 lighting else change to low light requirement plants and fix the co2 difusion problem.

The lighting is not the problem, 1st time I heard PL too warm and heat for MH is exaggerated- it's not really that hot if you hang it from a decent distance say 20cm[to water level]. The dosing is too much for such low light tank with so little plants.
Agree with Adrian that iron should not be dosed while combating algae.

Forget about Excel & H2O2 for 'treatment'. There's nothing to save- just trim off all the infected bits and go get more plants. Bleach the hardware[rocks and equipment] outside the tank & scrape any infected piece of wood.

I'd also check your filter for some maintenance.

As for CO2 3 bubbles per second is a lot. I suspect even your filter is knocked out. Try to get a CO2 checker.

See Stan's suggestion, Its not wrong also.
    Trim/remove the infected leaves.
(When i see BBA on my crypt leaves i just cut it off then dose abit execl to the areas around it)

Personal guess for the root cause, over fert + under lighting.
6 Months back i was using 30FL and dosing ferts, I had many algae issues.

    30W FL -> 72W PL (36W x 2) -> 144W T5HO (39W x 4)
Above is how i progressed in the last 1 year.

    Hope you resolve this

Re: Plants keep dying and a lot of algae

Since it's a new tank, did you do more large water changes since the NH4 level can be an issue. Do check your CO2 system for leaks as 3bps should be more than enough for a normal 2ft tank. More light is not going to help but rather trimming off all the algae / toss off infected plants and adding lots of new plant mass is the key. Nutrients are not an issue unless it comes from NH4.

h202 if used on plants will likely kill them or that particular area like it kills algae.

remove the leaves of the infected plant instead. If whole plant is covered in algae it is better and easier to remove

Re: Plants keep dying and a lot of algae

Thank you all the gurus here. I've decided to rescaping my tank...
As far as the CO2 is concern, I do have CO2 tester and it shows the color of light green which indicated CO2 is over. But I remembered there was a quite long period that the CO2 tester was dark green (which indicate poor CO2). Could this be the reason?

And if I want to use some of my plants, should I quaratine the plants first and treat it with excel? If yes, what dosage of excel and how often is the treatment? Please enlighten me...tq all for the sharing.

Light Green is over and dark green is not below but just nice. About 25-30 ppm. As for quarantine, You mean when you buy new plants or reuse plants that were infested with algae

    Cooljazz,

In future please do not start duplicate threads. Help us keep the forum neat and tidy. Thanks. I've merged both your threads together.

    Jiajuen,
I meant the infested one. I will try to save some of them.
