Does it smell ? It could be bacteria-like algae like BGA.
Hello Folks,
I'm hoping you experienced folks will be able to help me with my algae problem. Firstly, a required disclaimer: I am a complete newbie and until a few minutes ago didn't even know that green stuff was called algae!
I have a pond that has been neglected for a few years. And it is full of algae as you can see from the attached picture. Sorry, I do not know what type of algae. The ponds got roughly 5000 liters/1320 gallons of water and has a few fish surviving in it. Not sure what type of fish either!
I was considering purchasing either of these products http://www.shopatsimba.com/product_i...oducts_id=4376 or OCEAN FREE Absolute Algae Remover (http://aquariumsindia.com/productlisting.php?catid=37) before I came across this forum. Will either of these work and how much of it would I need for my pond?
Or where should I start? Thank you very much for your help and your patience in advance. As I mentioned, I am a complete newbie to all this.
Thanks again!
Regards,
Fahd

It depends on how you want the pond to be. Planted with soil base or just simple koi pond

Hi Fahd,
If you prefer a natural/organic solutions in preventing algae in ponds, you may want to read these articles I came across not too long ago. Depending on availabilty in your locale, it may also reduce your cost.
I'll attached these 2 first and see if I can compress the other article of more info, but exceeded the attachment file type limit of 200kb.
I have just changes the 2 attachments to links as well since I can still edit this post.
