Bro care to share what kinda shrimps you keeping?
Different shrimp's shrimplets differ in sizes.
E.g Crs's are smaller compared to Sakuras.
Otto is the friendliest for shrimps, but watch out for high speed hit and run.

I have the following in a moderately planted 3 ft tank, might not work for everybody especially if you intend to breed:
6x neon tetras
5x CRS (zero casualties, 3 months)
3x SAE
1x oto
Notes:
1) Occasionally the SAEs will spook the shrimps when scouring for food and swam too near.
2) No deliberate attacks from SAEs nor tetras as far as i can tell, but doesn't mean it will not happen!
3) Best to provide a lot of hiding places, the CSRs seem to favor star grass (Heteranthera Zosterifolia) for cover and food.
4) No shrimp food introduced, they have to find their own.

I keep 2 large swamp eels in one of my shrimp tank. Feeder platies and Giant pikeheads in another. In all the shrimp survived and multiplied, the only fish that truly impacted the shrimps population is a 3inch African snakehead who ate 300+ shrimp in over a week , after eating over 100+ guppies that has been co-existing with the shrimp in my office tank. You can propably see that I don't keep expensive shrimps![]()
Otto ^^
but some may say otherwise. heard from several hobbiest including Yourself. saying that the Boraras brigittae some are keeping would not attack Crs shrimplets and thus keeping them with your Crs.
but from my point of view it really depends on how large yr brigittae is? if it is adult size it may attack shrimplets. Typically depends on how large it's mouth is. even if it does not eat it may injure your shrimps taking small bites.
So if i were to advise if your really keeping just shrimps and breeding do not put any other type of fishes.
If you think otherwise please state and share your point of view ^^
so basically, even though you said that cherry and Crs are different in size, the same fish apply, right?
haa look where we are headed ^^ you seem to be avoiding my question as well^^
as i mentioned it really depends on what shrimp your keeping.
i ever experiment(over a period of time) myself putting Sakura shrimplets and Crs shrimplets to see if boras attacks.
and the results are that they attacked the crs shrimplets.
well that is my point of view and after a few tests.
I am not avoiding your question, basically, I agreed with you on the point, shrimp species of different size do not matter, from your experiement, boras attack both CRS and Sukura even thought they are different in size.
in the end of the day, no fish other than otto is allow in my tank.![]()

How about keeping Suckers with CRS? Will they attack CRS?
5 x Otto in 3 feets tank does not keep the hair agale down in my tank.
Thinking of having Suckers to do the job more efficiently.
I removed my Otto from my tank as well.
They are fighting with my shrimps for food during feeding time. Can see that my shrimps are scattered around during feeding time and not gathering and fighting for their food.
I removed my otto and now things are back to normal, shrimps ae appearing and clustering around, excited and happily eating.
Wonder anyone try Badis? I have 3 of them in my 2ft Shrimp tank with Cherrys & CRSes. They are place in specially for eating the flatworms. No need to feed them, they just keep looking for their food source in the soil! They have been in my tank for more than a month already & are getting nicer color. I did saw an attack on a baby shrimplet once but the shrimp got away. I am still observing them whenever i hv time but never saw anything unusual with them. I still suspect that they must have eaten a few shrimps when i'm not looking but really couldn't keep track of the babies. I'm still getting lots of babies growing bigger as i can see so i'm still keeping them in. If anyone else have Badis in their shrimp tank, maybe can share with us too! BTW,they are never interested in the shrimp food!

almost all other fishes eat shrimplets except otos... cordys... in my memory that is... but the full grown yamato scares all fishes...
Badis DEFINITELY eats shrimplets! Even Siamese Algae Eater eats shrimplets! The only fish I allow in my CRS Tank are Ottos and Boraras Brigittae or otherwise known as Mosquito Rasbora. They are really nice to look at especially when they school... and they are top dwellers.. so they do not swim near the bottom and hunt for shrimplets...![]()
