    Hi,

I just upgraded from Eden501 to the above filter.

I read somewhere that to increase the suction of the fish poo at the gravel level, need to remove the above attachment? My question is should I leave it bare ie without any attachment ? or there is a alternative strainer I should use? I don't want the filter to also suck in gravels or the fish? Btw, I am working on half power by adjusting the output flow.

Another question if you can help : The trays are supposed to have some rubber seals. I don't recall seeing them when I installed them. Does this come already preinstalled into the tray or I must install them myself. There are no more parts left in the plastic bag that came with this device. And I am hesitate to open up the filter to check as I had so much problem priming it last night.

    Grateful for your advice.

    Thanks

    Michael

2 rubber seals on the 2 trays at the pipe where you are suppose to align when putting the trays together. Mine comes installed but you should see it when filling the trays with media especially the blue or white sponge.

Not too sure on the strainer. I will leave it on like you mentioned to prevent fishes and gravel being sucked in. Other options will include those glass inlet pipes or Eheim Installation Kit 1/2. But I don't think any of those will increase the sucton of fish poo. Best is to ensure adequate flow in your aquarium.

Zonkkie is correct in that you need the flow to make the fish poo stay suspended in the water column and the filter will collect the fish poo. In reality sometimes aquarist hide this crucial part of the filter behind plants in order not to make it an eyesore and the fish poo rarely reaches the strainer.

Thanks!.. Mine is not a planted tank. Just a 1 feet cube with one tiny artifical plant in the center not blocking the strainer.

I modified the rainbar by cutting it into 2 and using it as a L shape using the L connector.

I looked at the flow seems to be directed to the strainer. Maybe goldfish poo is heavier. I can see that the small food bits get sucked in but not the poo.

Btw, I found the installation set 1 selling at QianYu. Wah.. quite expensive at $38. Wonder how much C328 sells this. Anybody know? Seems very useful.

    Thanks

See this page and look at the Pre Filter item. That might be what you require.
