    Hi

Finally I have completed my LED moonlight and done some documentation.

    Here are the specs:

    1) 6 x bright blue LEDs
    2) Runs on 12V so we can tap from existing 12 DC power driving the DC fans.
    3) Measured max. current to be 20 to 25 mA, producing bright blue light without over-current for max. life.
    4) 'Home-made'reflector
    5) Circuit board and resistors to protect LEDs
    6) Clear compact casing
    7) Multiple mounting options (will post pics later)

    here are some pictures:

    Parts List:
    1) 6 x LEDs
    2) Circuit board
    3) Electronics components
    4) Casing
    5) Wires, foam, double-sided tape, etc.
    6) plus soldering, sourcing, travel, etc...

If I am willing to DIY for others, would anyone be interested?
    Please email me. Cheers!

There are a number of ways to connect to power source.

The box will have two wires running out, just connect it to the 12 Volts DC power, same as your 12V fans.
It can work with 9V too but will not be as bright. (actually, fish need to sleep too, so too bright is not good)
Another way is to provide a mini-jack, just plug the DC connector of a power adaptor into it just like a walkman stereo.

In terms of mounting, can do the following:

    The following versions are available:

    (1) Single moonlight version
    (2) Dual moonlights cascading version

The dual version comes with a cascading cable joining the 2 units so that you only need supply a single 12 V dc to the main unit. This is so far, the most popular option.

    I'll post more pictures soon.
Email or PM me if you are interested.

    Hi sky

sorry for the late reply as I seldom come here online...
Well... why do you need moonlight?
Actually you do not need if you do not want to observe your tank at night.
You see, there are activities that take place only at night, under the moon.
These include corals that feed at night, shrimps, and sometimes spawning...
It is like a nitelight for your aquarium.

Also, it allows the aquarium to shift from bright light to low light, instead of sudden darkness.

    Hope I answer your questions.

BTW, orders for the moonlight are closed. I have to finish current batch before I can start on the new. Cheers!
