    Hi,

Just bought an Ehiem 2224 filter. But the flowrate to my 2ft tank seems too high. Mine is not a standard 2ft tank. The height is only abt 27cm.

Now its like a washing machine. Anyway to slow down the flowrate? Does using a rain bar helps?

    Hi kelvinlim..

I am still very new into this hobby, hence unable to advice on this.

But I would like to know how much is the 2224 model selling in Spore?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I have just bought a 2222 last week. Smaller brother of the 2224. I think there are 2 levels there where you closes the water flow to take out the quick release tap.

You should be able to lower the flow by adjusting the outlet level (impt only outlet not inlet) to manage the flow of the filter. I am using it on my small 1 feet tanks. Works very well after i adjusted the flow. My tank is clearer now than before when I was using the Eden501.

Adding the rainbar helps a lot too.

    Good luck

    Michael

Try a lily pipe outlet. There's a green plastic version sold at lfs. These lily pipe outlet will create some sort of vortex that diffuse the water flow around the lily pipe outlet, hence slowing down the water flow.

    Hi BFG,

I am also interested in what Kelvin ask. I didn't think about it.
Will adjusting the water flow cause problem to the motor?

Since flow adjustment is an integrated feature of this model, it shouldn't affect, right?

    Thanks

The flow coming out from the canister filter is the same, just that when it exit the pipe through the green lily pipe, it dispersed by designed of the lily pipe. No need to adjust the output of the canister filter.

There shouldn't be any noise, it might be that there is air presence in the filter or your impeller is not seated properly.

    Hi

I mean if I adjust the flow rate using the output level but not using the lily pipe would it affect motor in the long run? Btw how much would the lily pipe? And would it work on a small 1feet cube tank?

    Thanks

Hmm...for 2 feet tank, you should have gotten yourself the Eheim Classic 2213. Flow rate is just nice. I just bought it for less than a week. Less than $100 only.

Haha. I ask the uncle. He say this 1 enough for 2.5ft or 3ft tank. Knowing myself, i might buy a new tank next week so i decide to go for higher flowrate. hahaha.

Gosh, so expensive? Can try it out first? 70 is too much for a pipe.
    got cheaper 1?

No, not that lily pipe. The one I mention is green in color and is made of plastic. Less than $10 if I'm not wrong.

    hi,

i went to both C328 nand PolyArt. Had difficulty explaining to them. Seems like both don't carry it. Then I went to Green Chapter. They had a 10mmor is it 13mm one selling for like $60 and above. Glass stuffs.

Thinking of venturing into a 1feet cube planted tanks using my old Eden501.

Still trying to figure out what plants, soil and lights to use for a 1feeter.

    Thanks

    Michael.

1 litre is enough. I've tried filling it to the brim and flow rate drop.
