    nice and green!
IMHO, a bit of hardscape between your hairgrass and the background will be better. Now the transition between foregreen and background seems a bit abrupt.
Just curious, why are you changing to EI when wondergro is doing a good job for you? Cost?

Congratulation on your first planting scape, great job. Your algae is due to your plant melting, those brown stuff is plant melting. When you see plant melt, try to remove as much as possible to avoid algae explosion. Do you use your fingernail to trim your plant? New plant growth will not be nice and you will cause injury to the plant if you use fingernail to trim them. You need to moan down your hairgrass till left around 1 inch, that will stimulate new and compact growth, you need to do that often. You may want to consider placing your moss at the center and let it blend together with the hairgrass, it will look nicer this way. Looks like your soil is flying everywhere.

    Nice hairgrass lawn!

Why are there holes in your 'chain sword'? Due to the yamatoes? Or not enough light to them? Some crypts or red plants will be nice.

Re: 1st planted tank!!!! To be Cont'd

Yes... i sometimes use finger nails. Thanks for pointing out mistake... Lazy to use long sizzors... Btw were can i get cheap and good scaping tools. Stainless steel and what brand. Thanks

Just a question, how to trim the chain sword.

The holes are because of the pond snails. Taking care of it.

Also planning for major rescape to everything except HG lawn.( it took me super long to grow.) Any comments. The completely covered DW will be changed.

I am thinking of the traingle kind of scape, A slope on the right side with HG on the foreground and left.

Erm, so algae is most likey due to the ammonia from dead plants. Okay. Will try and see how.

Re: 1st planted tank!!!! To be Cont'd

Do remember to remove dead or broken of plants.
You can buy cheap ones below $30 if your not going for SS material.

If your doing a scape, make sure your slope is high enough. Too low will become invisible when the plants grow. ( Is your picture all from 1 same scape , with expectation of the 1st picture ?)

About fert, if its not broken. Don't fix it.

Good job for your 1st scape..

    Hmmm..... Not broken dont fix....

    Despite others telling me this before, i may go ahead with the EI eventually. Sorry if i seem a little stubborn... { maybe its not broken but it can always be improved }

    Thanks

    RE-SCAPE

    Replacing DW and plants

    Driftwood to choose from

    Position A

    Position A WITH ROCKS

    Postion B

Please comment on positions and select one to replace in the scape.

Also i i will try to create a sleeper slope for the DW to sit on and replant.

Can anyone id the plants? All i know are HG and java moss.

Planting Valinsnera nana. behind DW, HG in foreground, Midground is unknown.

Re: 1st planted tank!!!! To be Cont'd

well, at first i wanted it to be like the kind where branched stick out and flow in one direction towards left, then after i got the DW was not really satisfied. and then i found this root looking pair from Biotope so i got it too. Now unsure which to use.

I like the roots on the left in the first pic

Will take pic of DW next to tank tomorrow and look myself. Anyone think postion A got potential?

    Thanks
