Anyone familiar with cameras?

I am considering between the Canon S90, Panasonic LX-3 And Olympus E-PL1.

Canon S90 and Panasonic LX-3 falls more under the compact category but the E-PL1 seems to have good reviews too.

I am a beginner in photography and am looking for a camera to take quality everyday pictures.

personally if i have the money, i;ll go for the E-PL1.

read that the canon s90 not good with macro.

hi bro, if you intend to take everyday photos with minimal fuss, you can check out the panasonic lumix TZ-7 (got newer model TZ-10). great macro mode, plus the intelligent auto makes things really simply, really point and shoot compact camera. plus it comes standard with wide angle lens. Do check out the online reviews before you commit.

Why not consider the beginner DSLRs those around the 700-999 range? e.g Nikon D3000 I think its around 700?

I did I did but after considering for some time, DSLR's size is a setback for me if i were to go overseas and stuff. Thus, i'll consider portability too, which narrows down to the above three cameras i mentioned. Thanks for the suggestion.
