Do apisto of different types breed?

hi a silly question here. Do apisto macmasteri breed with apisto agazzi? How about the same apisto agazzi tefe but of different areas. Thank you

I am sure they do.. just like corydoras and pleco. they cross in the wild.

I really do not know. But my feel is that they don't. My first and second pair of apistos were a pair of cacatuoides and agassizii. When dumped into my 3ft. My observations are the females only stay with the males of their specie. Any females that got close to the other specie gets chased away. I have also witness both the male and female cacatuoides cornering the female agassizii in their bid to drive her away.

Romer mentioned that is not likely to happen in the wild becuase these fishes recognizes the body patterns of each other.

Thanks for the clear up. because i have a pair of vijeta and a Eunotus pair in a tank. haha But do apistos of different areas mate with each other??

ah thanks haha. i just wonder there are so many agazzi tefe with different locality i wonder how will their tail look like after a cross breed. anyone done that?
