just be careful next time. did you took photos and go back to cash converter? i though they have some 1 week or 3 day warrenty?
i just bought a 25$ dolphin external annister filter from 'cash converters' the other day. i took it home, washed its tray and wanted to cycle it in a pail of water. just as i connected it to the power socket, it ran for a few second then it literally exploded in my face. causing a black out in my house. LOL!

Owww, that sounds nasty. You should take it back to Cash Converters and ask for a refund. It's probably faulty somewhere. Perhaps the rating is different? It might not have been compatible with our local electrical voltage.
Fish.. Simply Irresistable
Back to Killies... slowly.
wow.it quite dangerous.
if you want to buy a 2nd hand cannister filter, it much more safer to get from buy/sell thread, at least u know the history of the cannister.
Look like overvoltage? You can check out the voltage rating at the pump side. should have indicate certain data there.
or else it might due to a short circuit , probably the fuse should prevent the short hmm..
nope cash converter arent taking back as it's an no warranty item hahaha. yup will watch out next time. ^^
