So you are a Spurs fan for now? I thought you are a fellow Reds from the picture you posted last time with many Reds jerseys. Spurs has always been a sophisticated London club with many flamboyant stars but the achievement dwarfs in-front of other London clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea.

    I cannot answer this question.

I have heartache when Newcastle went down. Once upon a time Newcastle play mesmerizing football too.. Don't think I am Newcastle fan though.

Ehhmm...so you are like a fair-weather football fan jumping from club to club whenever one is playing very well. It must have been tough watching team falling from glory and having to jump ship so often.

One friend of mine once commented to me that Liverpool is an old-time club which has past its glory and fame days. I blasted at him that I am not a fair-weather Reds supporter and regardless how the result is (was) and where it landed into, I am always behind the team and players through thick and thin. It is true that I supported the team when it was THE club in the league and Europe, but it is also true that the team has had rather few glories and trophies to show since then. Even if it is relegated into the first division or below (Touch Wood!), I will still proudly wear my Liverpool jersey and walk head-up all the way.

    Fair weather

Spurs is 5th. In the end of the season, they might not be able to get into top 4 and also playing in a cup competition which they have no chance of winning at all. Is that fair weather? Coming from a Liverpool fan. Fair weather is treble, double, and cup finals once every two years. For god sake - Spurs is

"as little more than a bunch of flaky show boaters whose bark was far more potent than their bite"
    and

flattering to deceive after raising hopes................ Tottenham Spurs!!
I remember they kena kick real hard by the bottom Portsmouth.....Loses 2-0 in FA cup final last year.

However, I am always mesmerize by their football. Glen Hoddle no look pass, Chris Waddle olden days equal of Bale, 1991 Gazza FA cup semi final freeKick, Gary Lineker fox in the box, Klinsmann famous dive, and Spurs famous five in 1995 consisting of Barmby, Anderton, Klinsmann, Dumitrescu, and Shermingham.

However, I am encouraged by your optimism about Liverpool and their performance.

I was never a Manchester United fan nor Arsenal fan. So I guess the weather has never been fair to me.

In the end, I like Liverpool to do well.....but quietly.

Meanwhile...I am going to enjoy Newcastle Vs Spurs tonight.

    Re: Football (Soccer) Fans...Fall In!

Liverpool still have a decent chance of finishing in the top 4 and higher if they bring in quality players in the January transfer window and for God sake and for umpteen times, Get rid of Roy Hodgson!! He has an away-game jinx that will kill off any attempt of Liverpool launching an assault for higher position. If Rafa is willing to come back, I will welcome him back with both hands. At least, he shows emotions and anger to the media during interviews and gave a frank and tough stance with the questions and not like Hodgson who is afraid to stand behind the team and players he selected, and gave ambiguous and weakling answers to the media. I think that being a football manager, one need to be Ambitious, Daring and need to be Unrealistic at times too.

His mediocrity in leading the team to continual victory is also a bad point, so get the axe out this January and assign King Kenny as a interim manager if a suitable manager isn't found during the period or permanently put King Kenny in the job which I think he will gladly accept with both hands and legs.

In the end, I like Liverpool to do well and they will definitely do well and I will be behind them LOUDLY!

    Re: Football (Soccer) Fans...Fall In!

I nearly missed the matches yesterday as I forgot that they were being played at 11pm, but still able to watch the well taken goals from Spurs' two winger, Lennon and Bale. I wonder when can I see such goal coming from Liverpool's winger like Kuyt, Maxi and Cole. Maybe only Babel can deliver such a strike. Liverpool really need a quality winger coming in the January transfer and Ashley Young maybe the man.

They are going to win nothing.........
They have unlimited oil money but I think they still won't win anything. They will have many great players but still get naught to show when the season is over. I don't see another Chelsea in Man City.

Liverpool maybe signing Keisuke Honda if the articles on the web can be believe? He will be a good asset to the team if the deal is done. Just the jersey sale in Japan will be enough to cover back the transfer fee. I read that Honda's CSKA jersey is sold at about S$200+ in Japan. Come on, Hodgson, sign Honda!

    Re: Football (Soccer) Fans...Fall In!

The axe is dropping on Hodgson's head. There is a consensus among Liverpool fans that he should resign instead of being sacked by the club but with the massive pay-out awaiting him, he will just continue his own lousy way waiting for the pink slip.
King Kenny is on the stand-by and can step in whenever Hodgson leaves. I will be surprise if I still see Hodgson as the manager by next morning and I will be greatly shocked if Hodgson still leads the team against Man Utd in the FA Cup crash this Saturday.
I don't trust that Hodgson has the desire and hunger to win over his old friend, Ferguson, as he will show him too much respect.
Remember what Ferguson old friend Big Sam's former team Blackburn did against Man Utd, they lost 7-1, and he was deservedly sacked 2 weeks later.

He won't be the one to sign Honda, that is how I see. Liverpool need a creative midfielder like Alonso and Honda fits the bill, but CSKA may not want to release him, and Honda may not want to come to Anfield.

    Re: Football (Soccer) Fans...Fall In!

Pool signing Honda? That'll be a GREAT piece of news, though I doubt it will happen.

Jimmy, you raised a good question with the uncertainty over Hodgson's role as coach, does he still call the shots for signing; especially with the axe over his head? With Commoli in charge of scouting, perhaps that signing may still happen. But getting the new player into the team if not chosen by Hodgson is another matter altogether - he decided to put Aquilani out on loan, so go figure if he can get a team to work together...

Another defeat to Blackburn this time - think their problems are not at forward area, but at defence.
It was PATHETIC!!! I cannot understand how professionals can play this way (ball watching, not following the overlapping midfielders/backs), not closing down on players within striking distance outside the box...) it's really disappointing.

As for Hogdson, I've chosen to bite my tongue on his record so far, but I must admit that I'm loosing patience (which is what he's asking for). He keeps repeating that he inherited this side, but he must take the blame for not motivating them (mostly Internationals mind you) and also the poor inclusions he's made. Meireles is the only quality player he brought in. The rest has not been to standard; and he offers Aquilani out on loan.. sigh.

Well, on the flip side, the players MUST take the blame too. As stated earlier, poor performances are their fault if they did not play to their abilities; UNLESS their play is 'all messed up' due to the new 'styles' (confusing?) introduced by the new coach. It's hard to say. A comparison of the 2 ends of the spectrum - Man City also had MANY players brought in over the summer/early in the season, but despite the 'antics' off the field, have performed ON the field. Chelsea on the other hand - same players from last season, but misfiring now. Another defeat for Blues at Wolves this time. Is it Ancelotti's fault? hmmm.... From the celebration of J Terry's goal against Villa, I dont think so. Player's fault? Think they need to do more homework on competitors' tactics.

So, what now for Reds? I certainly think a better (qualified) manager (have managed Top 4 team in Europe) will be required to get Reds out of the jam for the remaining season. His dismal away record is not going to get any better, and certainly the players need a 'wake up' call.. King Kenny on the job? Well, as much as I like him, he's been out of the top flight management for so long, the game is no longer the same; unless he's been active behind the scenes in training and along the sidelines. Furthermore, one has to understand why he quit in the first place - with Tom Commoli now 'in between', think it'll be even more political. But cant deny he can be a great motivator (what we need right now). I have to disagree with my buddy Aquanoob on getting Rafa back - not in a million years! He was lucky to get the double in his 1st year, but since then, there's been nothing. He actually left the team in a mess/downslide. Too many (good) players disgrunted with him and his silly 'mind games'. I can only credit him for bringing Torres to the team.

Sad, sad day for Reds fans.. ;-(
