Zonkkie, my current thermometer is also the cheapo type, bought at Daiso for $2. The suction is very well and what I did was just made it wet, and slide it down the tank wall, and it stick there very well.
Bought 2 thermometers to measure my water temperature, those cheapo kind (<$3) and they typically come with a black suction cap. However, I realize that they all do not stick to the side and come off after 1 hour. Anyone has any brilliant ideas on how to overcome this? Or any recommendation on cheapo thermometers with good suction caps?

zonkkie, I had the same problem. I wasn't sure about your thermometer's diameter. But I measured it and went to LFS dig into the basket of suction and fitting that fit the thermometer.
Hope this help.

I bought 2 different ones and both had the same problem. Anyway, here is some current solution that is not approved by CO.
You may chip the tank edge. I am using suction for air pump tube for thermometer of this diameter

That is quite creative of you. I recalled that I used to see people put half of the suction cap into the water, and the other half out of it. Wet the cap first, then try this method. It works for some tanks that I saw.

Dear all, thanks! Will get from Daiso then.
Barmby - cannot find shop that sells suction cap. Y618 I saw but they do not have the right size. Any leads for Thomson to Woodlands stretch? Your bishan LFS got sell?
Huh! This is a standard. Air pump tube. Suction cap with c-clip. Try C328

Am using some cheapo ones too and I don't have such problems. But good diy there
Funny how such little things can cause so much frustration. Mine ends up coming off and floating around all the time.
I check the temp when it comes around the front of the tank, LOL.

I stuck mine with the suction cap partially in water. Stays there without coming off.
I need to try that. I can't stand looking for it every time I want to check it.
Thanks for the tip.

Bro I have been using the cheapo thermometer for about 3yrs now no problem at all, I think sometime when changing water you must also scrub the tank surface as well as the suction cap. Thanks.
