Peruvian Altum is Scalare... some thing to read:

I wonder why the autor never put pictures of true altums in his report. However, I do believe that altums and scalare do cross breed in the wild.
Another way to ID, I think is by the eyes. Altum do not have that red pigment found on scalare eyes.

The above is a pair. I have raised a few batch of fries from this pair.out
The size of the male is abt 4-5 inches. The female is slightly smaller...
