light holder? er... the 2G11 socket is it? those small black wires will do... er... quite small so dunno the diameter...
to attach to the light fixture.. there should be holds at the bottom of te socket and you screw it to the reflectors......

Don't know wat you mean by only at the ends. A pic will be best..... Normally the should be to holes where you juz slot in the wires. For your cable size, a 1mm sq cable will do fine. Or you can juz get the black/red cables that is available in juz about every electrical shop... NTUC too.

    Hi,

    I bought the sockets already.
    Tristan, thanks for the offer.

    Sherchoo,
    Thanks for the info.

What I would like to know is how do you guys attach the holder to the hood. The holder that I have does not have a flange with holes. The mounting holes seems to be next to the 4 pin sockets.

Can cable ties withstand the heat from the tube? I am thinking of using it.

Cable tie can tahan the heat. But don't how long lah.... you could consider using those 'twisties' thingy.

A neat trick which I learnt from Chan (Nature Aquarium) is to use those plastic wire connectors. Break them up into 2's. The PL holder is quite ex ... about $5-$6 even in Jalan Besar area. I got all my DIY stuff inc PL tube holders from Chan. Price is reasonable and it's a breeze.

Cable tie will not last for very long term. The heat eventually makes it brittle and they will break easily.

For makeshift, I use twistie ties.

MECH: Where is the cheapest source of the plastic PL Clips? I got mine at CHina Hill for $1 each.
What about metal ones, where to buy from?

Whao... just replaced my twistie ties with the plastic clip today. Discover that some of the twistie ties were burnt too.

think we should set up a topic for LFS directory...
