Can I know what is the Bamboo Charcoal Tube for? Is it like those being used in a South East Asia biotope type?

actually i'm trying to get one for my pl*co
Pentagon Bro,
I know what you are referring to. I saw some lfs have it. Saw it at east ocean at havelock road and polyart at clementi 328. It costs $3.50 for the 10cm one and $2.30 for the 5cm one. Brand is SUdo. I know coz i was looking all over for it, so now i share my findings with you! =)
The exact name is: Chikutan Bamboo Shelter
And that is the only bamboo charcoal i can find in SG that is in tube form. I tried suppliers but they only provide bits & pieces form but not in full tube. So there you go.
Edit: Forgot to mention i like that way you used this "shape" ( ( ( and O for tube hahah.

Sorry Celticfish, was not aware of it. My apologies.

Ever Bamboo carries Bamboo Charcoal Tube at 8", 10", 16" and 20". For pricing info, please email us at [email protected].

I don't think I've seen bamboo charcoal tubes locally that are big enough for plecos to hide in.
The largest diameter I've seen has been around 5cm, but mostly they are 2cm - 3cm diameter.

i have bristlenose, i think 5cm in diameter is large enough.
thanks Kiatster, i'll go down have a look.

bought one in C328 yesterday @$3, about 5 or 6 left.

length about 10 cm, internal diameter around 3 or 4 i think.
some are thicker, thus internal diameter is smaller;
some still have the bamboo "wall" in the middle.
one disvantage is that they kind of clean water by absorbing toxics.
so need to boil like every 3 months

It will first work as chemical filter to clean water of toxins but when its 'full', it will just turn into a biological filter. Another thing to note is if you are using medication, the bamboo charcoal will also clean the medication out for you, so best to remove if medication is used.
As far as I know about charcoal, when it's 'full', it will release out everything. Best to use a reactor if you want to clean your tank water column and replace it every 2 weeks to a month depending on your water bioload.
