    Hi,

Sorry about this silly question from a newbie.

I just set up my 2 fish tank and a few starter plants (don't know what they are yet).

I also done the Co2 with 1 bps and hook it up to the timer. I have some question i need help with.

    1. CO2 and light should connect to same timer as both on and off same time, right?

    2. CO2 must be off at night right?

    3. CO2 and light on 9-1pm and 5pm to 9pm. Off otherwise. Is this ok? Or depends on plants?

    Grateful for any help.

    Thank you and best regards

    Michael Ang

Hi. For me, I used different timers for light and co2. Then ON co2 half an hour before light on and OFF co2 together with light off. Co2 1bps is too low may be. Don't plant a few here and there. Plant vigorously from the start to avoid algae. Share your eqipments and plants lists so that experts here can tell you more.

    How big is your tank?

At 1 bps, you can probably try turning on CO2 1 hour before lights on, and turn it off 1 hour before lights go off.

You might want to set your lighting period for 8 - 12 straight hours instead of breaking it up like that.

i switch my Co2 on 30mins before the lights come on and i switch it off 5mins after the lights go off.

Basically, i do this to try to maintain a constant level of co2 whenever the lights are on.

Actually, breaking it up should be better. Correct if im wrong. Plants dont mind the break but it bothers algae.

    Hi guys

Thanks for the replies. Can I ask for those time when the CO2 is off, do i need to aerate the water by using an airpump? I am using a lily pipe which is about 1 cm under the water surface.

You shouldn't have to do this unless you have a very high bioload.

    HI Fuzzy,

I have 49 neon tetra in the tank now. One RIP last night.
    2 golden algae eaters

    My setup is

2*1*1 feet tank about 60 litres
Soil - GEX red pack (8kg)
    CO2 (3 BPS)
    48 watts lights (2 tubes -24 each)
    some mosses and plants...

Lights on 4hours on 4 hours on and 4 hours on again together with CO2.

Do you think my tank is high load?

    Thanks

    MIchael
