Fire Shrimp mate with the yellow shrimp

Hi all,
Just a question, how did my one and only yellow shrimps in my tank full of fire red and bee shrimps get pregnant?
It was in the tank for almost 1 month before getting pregnant so probably not because it has mated before entering my tank.
Could it have mated with the fire red? are the of the same family and what will the outcome of the childrens be?

Fire Shrimp mate with the yellow shrimp
You will get brown colour shrimps with strips like cherry.
I mean the body look simply to that of cherry

Both are of Neocaridina species...they will interbreed, afterall, Yellow shrimp is another variety of Red Cherry Shrimp.

Hee hee .. that's how the LFS selling lots of pregnant female cherry or sakura but you never find 1 male in the tank. Encourage you to buy more good color ones while your tank breeding the lower grades ones.

You can mix crs/sulawesi/malayan in your fire shimp tank but not yellow/snowball/tiger/blue. Not sure about green because it needs high ph. Sulawesi shrimps do have some that survive between 6.5 to 7.0.
Normally i do not want to buy shrimps that are pregnant bacause you do not know if the male is the true color shrimp that you want. LFS always like to mix them all in the same tank except with the CRS.

hi stonespot,
Thanks. Learn something today![]()
I have heard (not proven though) that Yellow and Sakura might not cross. Both are Neocaridina thus they are of the same spieces, except different color. In this case, they should cross isn't it?
Anyone else tried mixing both and they crossed? What's the colors of crossed yellow and sakura shrimps look like?

hi global cookie,
yes, they 100% will cross. I have a tank with all my red and yellow culls, i just dump all of them inside, and i get the wild colour. their wild colour is very variable, can be transparent, brown, dark brown, yellow, or gold stripe. i posted the pics in another thread. you can do a search to find the thread.
Hi Lucas,
Thank you for sharing. As expected, it's not ideal to mix them.
