Any picture of your tank?
Hehe...
I understand there are 2 type of bulbs.
I am into my 5th year with MH lights.Recently I changed to ADA bulb for my 05 feet planted tank. The growth is phenomenal. The green plants became really green. Because of the newly found " light source ", plants are hungry and has been taking up nutrients more than when I was using the OSRAM bulbs. The reason why I am saying this because I don't see green algae now unlike last time. Everything remain the same. Except the bulbs. In fact my dosing has to increase.

Red for red plant, Green for green plant
The spectrum. hard to explain. the light expert may want to explain.

I thought there is only normal and green type (enhance green color)? Anyway, price is very high as checked with biotope yesterday.
I am wrong. Thanks for correcting.
"Price is very high", but "very high" is relative to what ?

Colin,
Don't mean to be skeptical, but is this the first time you've change the bulbs in your MH lightset?
If not, did you experience the same spurt of plant growth with the last time?
- eric
I understand. I am into my 5th year with this current MH lightset. On end of 2nd , and end 4th year , I have changed with OSRAM. Bulbs are changed every 2 years.

Just to add my comments that ADA bulb is the best I have used so far compare to another brand of 8000k. For example, I'm using one ADA and one non-ADA of 8000k right now because I accidentally broke one ADA when switching to a new MH set. The side with ADA appears greener and looked better and growth is slightly better.
Not sure how you interpret. But i don't mean harsh over the comment. "relative to what"

without proper testing, it is hard to say, just trying to be neutral here. Tests done so far (from above threads) seem to be subjective, uncontrolled.
I am using cheap MH light bulb, and getting results that I am very much satisfied with.
If Ada buld were cheap, I might give it a try, but i would think this would be for the name only (well the name in my head, because who is gonna see your bulb anyway)..
But if the price is high, (i buy those S$30-50 bulb), I will not even consider it.

Taken from http://www.hollandaquarium.com/ada-m...lide-lamp.html: In comparison with the "NA lamp MH-150W", this new NAG-150W green lamp has higher spike in green spectrum, which will rendering more enhanced green hue. Thus, this lamp is ideal for a layout uses mainly green plants, because the green hue of the aquatic plants will be amplified. To ensure your aquatic plants to remain at the optimum condition & healthy growth, please replace the lamp every 4,000-5,000 hours of usage (1 year to 1 1/2 year service life of average 8 hours per day).
