    Hi,
I have a 50 US Gallon tank that is 80% planted.
    - Current lighting is 1 watts per gallon running for 10 hours, will it be good to chaneg it to 2 watts per gallon running for 5 hour? as the run cost would be almsost same.

    - Current bubble rate of CO2 is 1 bps, is it recommended (or should I) increase the rate to 2 Bps if I increase the intensity of the light to 2 watts per gallon.

    - My lighting cycle is from 12 PM to 5 PM, break for 1 hour then from 6 PM to 11 PM, is this pattern good enough? or should the lighting be stable without breaks

    Thank you

Re: Question on light and CO2

1 - 2 Bpz is quite low for 50 Gal even if you have low lights. Better 2Bps or even get drop checker.

Btw your going low tech or high tech? If high tech up your lights to 2 wapg - 2.5 wpg for 6 - 8 hrs daily.
    Cheers,
    JJ

you can increase the lights but keep it at 8 hrs at least. if you want to know how long the lights needs to be on, just look out the window and see how long the trees and plants are exposed to lights.

Re: Question on light and CO2

    Hi Jiajuen,
I made a mistake in Volume Calculation, My Correct Volume is 25 US Gallon

    My current setup is
    - Current lighting is 2 watts per gallon running for 10 hours
    - Current bubble rate of CO2 is 1 bps
    - I am using an External Boyu CD-01 CO2 Diffuser
    - My lighting cycle is from 12 PM to 5 PM, break for 1 hour then from 6 PM to 11 PM, 10 Hours
    - Once a week 50% water change
    - Adding Nutrafin antichlorine
    - Weekly once dosing of Luchgro Micro and Lushgro Aqua (NPK)

    Please advise

    - Will it be good to change it to 4 watts per gallon running for 5 hour? as the run cost would be almost same.
    - Should I increase the rate to 2 Bps if I increase the intensity of the light to 4 watts per gallon.
    - Is this Light pattern good enough? or should the lighting be stable without breaks
    - should the dosing pattern change if I increase the intensity to 4 W per gallon

    Thanks a Lot

Re: Question on light and CO2

less than 5hr is not a good idea ideally 8 hrs. 10hrs may be alot too.

Can increase break period or go without break period.

Low tech tanks dont need such large amount water change.

Now your current set up should be low tech. But with 4wpg most likely be going high tech. With means
-must up co2 to abt 3-4 bps. Use drop checker for acurate reading.
    -Fert dosage must increase.
-Must do weekly water changes to keep things in check.

P.S for low tech little water change are needed. If you intent to go low tech read more about it
    Cheers,
    JJ
