Hi Eddy,
I am a Moss fanatic and what I have found out is that Moss grows between in temperatures below 24C. I am looking at ways of keeping my tank settings and while I do use certain methods like having a Bottle of water stalked up in the Deep Freezer and then dropping the same in the tank etc..I find these methods too crude.
Hence what I was told is that I may be able to get my hands on a small Second Hand or New Chiller much cheaper in Singapore considering that the Hobby is quite mature there than in India.

Currently using a Artica 1/10hp chiller (DBA-075) on my 3ft tank. Works fine and easily able to cool the tank to 25C. You can consider it.
Hi Royston
I know Mumbai weather can really cool up to 20 to 24 deg C during Nov to Jan or Feb. You dont even need for chiller at all!
But during Feb to Oct will be either 35 to 40 deg C.Maybe the reason why you need it.You can try using at least 2 potable fans or computer fans to cool your tank to at least 28 to 26 Deg C depending where you locate your 3ft tank is. If near the window where heat come from is the hottest area or if near the very airy area like in hall where plenty of fan blowing , your tank will likely be 28 to 26 Deg C.
Most of mosses still grow every well on 28 to 26 Deg c but depend what kind of mosses you keep. Mind ask you to name the mosses that you are growing?
We will able to advice you in every details. In AQ, we got plenty of mosses gurus are ready to help anyone and AQ members to improve to the next level, the Mosses Gurus!
Hi Eddy,
Thanks for the detailed help/information. You are right I would probably only use the Chiller for a couple of months each year Feb to June probably, cause after that we have the rains and hence weather chilled. From December to Feb weather is Cold.
The various Mosses/Liverwort I have are from a good friend who is also in Aquatic Quotient called Vince from a beautiful place called Kerala in India.
I currently have
1. Weeping Moss
2. Peacock Moss
3. Subwarsetang
4. Flame
5. Stringy
6. Christmas
7. Java
8. Riccia
9. Moss which looks like a fern (locally procured which is yet to be identified)
I would need all possible help from the Guru's on this forum to help me grow these, I have had limited success and a lot of Algae in my 2ft and 3ft tanks growing moss. While the Liverwort grow without a problem(I am literally giving the Riccia and Subwarsetang) FREE to friends at the rate they are growing, the Moss are not doing so well.
Further to this I am plagued with the Green Hair Algae that has covered most of my Moss. I am anyways trying the Black-out method for the last few days now, with water changes of upto 10-15% every 3 days to see if it helps.

Royston
