Take a peak at your ballast. If it's a workhorse ballast ( can operate within a certain wattage 10w-55w? ), you won't need to change it but if it specify only for a certain wattage ( 24w, 36w, 39w ) then you'll need to change it. I don't think you'll have a problem since both wattage are the same 55w.

    Hope this helps!

thanks boss. Im not so sure about the ballast. i think its a iron core ballast? . If the light flickers after a few minutes when i put switch it does it mean that the ballast cannot take it?

flickering at startup is normal for iron core ballast.
you can use a 55w pl tube if your ballast is designed for driving a 55w tube.
if your ballast is designed for 36w tube, then it cannot drive a 55w tube.

But will it be able to drive a lower wattage tube? I have two lights that are too bright at 55w.
