I just started trying to grow HC in my 1 foot tank. I throw in CO2 tablets every other day and am trying out my DIY CO2 canister (with sugar, baking soda, water and yeast). I currently use Tetra's Flora Pride (mainly for my Java Fern in my other tank) but have been hearing about different brands like Seachem or Excel (?). What's a suitable fertiliser for HC? Or for that matter, what also works with Java fern and Java moss? I'm grateful for useful comments.

generally all fertilisers should work as long as they provide the nutrients plants need. Mainly NPK and micro nutrients (e.g Fe, Ca, Mg). Sea chem is good as you canbetter gauge how much and what you dose. I fin wondergro line of products useful and good. Also these 2 brands are cheaper than ADA or Dennerle brands.

You could also try EI dosing. Read up on it. It is a good way to ensure that plants get hwta they need. Search on it in the forum or on the net.

Would like to add. Fertiliser is as important as light and co2. All need to be in balance to ensure optimum growth and minimum algae

Best of luck with your HC
    Cheers,
    JJ
