Usually the mosses are attached to stainless steel mesh, or driftwood, then laid in pieces on the substrate to grow out.

So all I need to do is put pieces of moss in the tank ie on bog wood and rocks and attached with mesh then the moss will expand and grown
It's more than just that, of course. For the moss to grow, conditions in your tank have to be right. First off, you need to keep the water cool. Use a fan and if you leave it running non-stop 24 hours a day, you can get the temperature down to 28 degrees C or lower. Then you need to have lights. Mosses don't require high lighting but there must be some light. If you have a CO2 system, that will help the moss to grow too.
To find out how we tie mosses to driftwoods or rocks, take a look at this post.

If you do not want to use wire mesh, what you can do is leave the loose moss on the gravel and use the gravel to weigh it down. But your gravel has got to be small so that it does not block the light from reaching the moss and your pump must not blow against the gravel region or else your moss will be 'flying' everywhere. After a month or 2, the moss should have attached itself to the gravel and start to spread outwards and upwards.
