Singapore Moss?

Just came back from Sea View with a plastic bag of Java Moss at $5. On sale is also Singapore Moss.

This is new to me. What is a Singapore Moss?

The moss is pretty common but it's quite rare for a local fish shop to use the "Singapore Moss" name. This is because it's a lot harder to sell a moss for high prices if the customer knows it is indigenous to Singapore.

You will find Singapore Moss everywhere. Just look closely at the grassy areas below trees or on the barks of the tree trunk itself. I was working around Sembawang recently and I saw lots of the moss growing on the sides of the concrete drains along the roads.

Singapore Moss and Java Moss are priced the same at Sea View. Putting them side by side, I found Singapore Moss nicer actually. Not knowing what it was, I went for the Java Moss instead.
