Loose Java Moss

Hi, I am some problems with my loose java moss. trying to make them grow some lighting & sometime putting them in the sun and liquid fertilizers. Why do they still turn brown ? Any effective way in growing java moss.... ? Please guide me. Thank you

hi freyster,

first of all,
if you decide to go low tech moss tank
moss grow slow, moss needs lower temperature of 27C, moss needs minimal light, moss tank must not be disturbed

secondly,
if you want moss to grow fast and green,
they need co2
they need 26C and yes - chiller is necessary
they need some fertilizer

on point one - it has been proven by joe

Side info - ADA soil not necessary unless you are going after the hairgrass. But read "office tank". Most Singapore offices are like 20C !! you see people wearing thick jacket at work.. you will understand .. offices are great places for moss tank. every moss grow!

hmm im using ada soil plus adding ferts.. light on for around 10hrs per day... temperature around 28 growing mix moss such as christmas, us fissidens, java moss... growing quite well but not gonna showcase till around 2 months later... cause i just rescape the whole tank and its not that nice as before...
