Tonight I mourn the passing of a pet, known to the world (and me) as Half beak. They said he would not live long alone but he lived long enough to make an impact on me. He lived for over a month before heat got the better of him. When it got too hot, I would throw in some ice cubes and he would sidle up close to the cubes for a close encounter. It got so that I could hand feed him worms (using chopsticks). Tonight I came home and found him wrapped by my loaches at the bottom of the tank. The house was hot even at 10pm and when I checked the thermometer, it still showed 32C. He got cooked because he is a top swimmer and does not come down to the middle or bottom. He paid the price.

SO D*#@ HOT THESE FEW DAYS!!!

Looks like I might need to buy another Fan for this tank. Sigh....

    Sorry to hear the loss.

You can help cool the tank by providing good ventilation in the house - open windows. Are you positioning the fans correctly facing downwards? Are they turned on 24 hrs in this warm weather? How about shortening the lighting cycle this period?

Sigh... leave the windows open too wide, rain comes in on the wooden fittings and leave the windows open too narrow, the house becomes an oven.... Fan is in proper position and on all the time. I guess I'll try the shorter lighting period. Trying not to think about a chiller yet. Thanks.
