Yes, you can place it anyway you want to but you must take note of the circulation in your tank. It might blow your gravel all over the place.

I've placed my rainbar vertically before but that was for an Arowana tank.

You also need to consider if yours is a planted tank or not, as it may uproot the plant.. Alternatively, u can try it for a day, if everything is alright, then it shouldn't be a problem.

put for 1 day already... everything is still in place.. it gives better water circulation i think? haha... and i think its because my pump not very strong so everything just stays put...

The spray bar will create a lot of surface agitation when placed above the water level. Surface agitation expel CO2. Unless you place it below water level.

I tossed mine out when I realized Co2 is depleted & it doesnt create a good circulation inside my tank.

yea.. i placed my rain bar under water.. to prevent any surface agitation.. and got a new small pump to make the water circulation better.. !
