Cutting filter wool

Is it possible to cut the filter wool to size?

I have tried cutting mine and when I rinse it first, the colour of the water started to turn blue and i have loose fiber in the water. Is that ok?

The filter wool was from mydymax.

im sure its fine.. anyway its gonna be placed inside your filter..

Wouldn't it leak to the tank? I'm using a HOF.

if you are worried about it leaking into the tank.. get a denser type of filter wool.. but usually its fine
