maybe try to tell us more about about your water parameter?
Some time ago, I introduced some 50pcs of malayan shrimps into my comm tank, with harlequin rasboras and otos and cherries. after like 2 months, the population of cherries dropped drastically, and now all of the cherries are gone. Is it possible that the malayans attack eggs/fry of the cherries? or is it my rasboras who wiped out the fry? I do have lots of java moss and hiding areas for my shrimp.

unfortunately i do not test water parameters, but they have been surviving, breeding for up to 2 years. quite prolific until the malayans came in. They even survived a big setback once when I accidentally stirred up old aquasoil causing ammonia spike. but if water parameters did wipe out the cherries, why did the malayans continue living well?
malayan shrimps are one of the hardiest shrimp around besides amano.

well then the only reason i can think of over bioloading then, since they have been fine for as long as there were no malayans
You did mention that your tank is heavily planted.. could they just be hiding?
