    guys. just a few questions.

    1) what is the ideal temperature for keeping fishes and live corals?

    2) for freshwater tank, we change water to maintain the quality of the tank, what do we do likewise for SW tank? change water too (and add salt?)

3)what other essential stuff we need to take note when keeping a 1ft to 1.5ft SW tank?

    4) for corals, what are the lights involved, seen pretty much, blue lights etc.... very confusing.

    guys. just a few questions.

    1) what is the ideal temperature for keeping fishes and live corals?
26-28 degree.. no more than 29

    2) for freshwater tank, we change water to maintain the quality of the tank, what do we do likewise for SW tank? change water too (and add salt?)
yes.. if u are talking abt 1-1.5ft tank.. actually i dun recommend anything less than 2ft.. in fact, my other 2ft marine tank(apart from my 4ft tank) in my room, i only have 1 seahorse and macroalgae.. yes u do need to change water weekly, the most, bi-monthly. and yes, u need to add salt too when u change water

3)what other essential stuff we need to take note when keeping a 1ft to 1.5ft SW tank?
skimmer, hydrometer, lights, filter(minimum a canister)forget abt undergravel or internal filter.also, depends on your livestock... decide what u want to keep first b4 buying and also get a book on marine aquaria.. this will save heartache and money... i also suggest that u read up the Aquatic FAQ.. there is a marine setup link... take a look.

    4) for corals, what are the lights involved, seen pretty much, blue lights etc.... very confusing.
what corals are u talking abt. different corals require different lighting requirements.

    hi notebook,

I am still at the considering stage. Like u, i keep fresh water plants. Now thinking of a smaller than 2 ft tank. Of course trying to convince wife about a 2 ft one.
Where do you soucre for the thingie? About how much expected to spent?
I guess the biggest headache for me is filter. I am thinking of using a eheim wet and dry.

    Hi mariners there,

does it mean i dun nit a protein skimmer if I use a eheim wet and dry filter? Also what is the total wattage of lights( how much watts for each color?)?

    Thanks

my suggestion is to go for the biggest tank that u can afford coz the bigger the tank, the tolerance of error is better coz smaller tank, if filter clogged up or choke, it will deteriorate very fast. The amt of money to spend will depend on what u intend to get

it is a good filter.. eg for 2ft, u can use a 2227 but they dun come cheap.. $300 i presume?

does it mean i dun nit a protein skimmer if I use a eheim wet and dry filter?
no.. PS is an essential item that u cannot do without..unless u only keeping macroalgae, even though, u still need it to help u break down the waste that filter is not able to do so.
Also what is the total wattage of lights( how much watts for each color?)?
we dun count wattage of light per in or ft as in FW. we looked in the intensity of lights, eg: minimum 8500 kelvins.. normally ppl use 9500, 10k, or even 20k kelvins. LIkewise, the intensity of lights depends on what u wan to keep.

i buy most of my marine stuffs there.
the pricing is pretty competitive, but for marine live forms, u
may like to consider pasir ris fish farm, there's one pacific aquatics.
    fishes are cheap there.
