New tank? Usually new tanks not suitable for shrimps. From experience, the less changes to the water, the better it is for shrimps
Hi,
I confirmed that the shrimps died due to water condition. I wonder what poison SG water has? And how to treat it? I had left the pail of water exposed to air for few hours hoping it will dechlorinate. WTH lucky got a few shrimps alive in another separate container. I think I will go petrol station buy some distilled water.
I hope the shrimps won't die of shock in distilled water.

Yea, but the issue is with the water. I am going to buy some distilled water, next week try to add in see how, currently put them in container first.
That's it man.
You will need a water care product that will remove both chloramine and chlorine. All aquarium shops should have it.
According to other threads that I've read, even added water care products cannot guarantee their survival. I will try distilled water first.
yea.. it wont guarantee their survival but it will increase their chances.. if yours a new tank atleast let it cycle for 3 weeks before adding any shrimps in.. get yourself some water test kits to test to see if the PH , KH levels are at a acceptable level! and try to use aged water as to make sure that there is no chlorine or chloramine!
I am temporarily keeping them in container. My concern now is will they survive if I add distilled water? Can anyone answer?
no gurantee as the act of using untreated water will probably have damaged their gills.
Dear dew, i think there is a topic about the water condition of singapore inside the forum do try search for it.
cheers
what shrimps you have in the container?
ya i bought sakura shrimp all die.... bought cherry shrimp also die..... now keep cheaper version malayan shrimp so far so good may me this breed more hardy and can tong...
Why are you so sure the problem is the water?
just test your water parameter first ( temp, GH, NO2, NO3, pH ). if there's problem in our own tap water, PUB has a major problem then.

Hi, cus I test the shrimps on 2 types of water, the one from tap water, kill the all the shrimps after 24 hours. The other is aged water wth bacteria (not fresh from tap).
I am very sure SG tap water is poisonous to the shrimps, tested a few times, at first thought it's other factors but when i test on 2 different water can see the difference in mortality.
Now I will try to culture some distilled water with beneficial bacteria and try to introduce the remaining shrimps, if they are even alive at that time.
