    Hi all,

I'm currently using this soil and some rocks and I have a tank full of yellowish water.

May I ask those experienced user of this soil, does it actually leaks tannings to the water making it yellowish or is it my rock?

If it is the soil that is leaking the tannings, how do you actually clear it off? Been changing large amount of water for many times, it is not working ideally.

    Thanks!

Normal, no need to be worry about. It will go away eventually with water change.

    quoted from above link:
humic acid has a characteristic for seeping into water and turning the water yellow under an alkaline environment. It is more likely seen during the initial set up period of a tank, when Amazonia's black soil contains a lot of humic acid. Humic acid is a natural substance and it will not disturb the health of fish and aquatic plants inside the tank. But if you are not comfortable with the cloudiness of water made by humic acid, we recommend you to take out excessive organic matter by frequent water changes. It will help reducing the cloudiness of the water though the result differs depending on the growth of the plants and the frequency of water changes. You may also use NA carbon and let it adsorb humic acid dissolved into the aquarium water.

Thanks so much for the information. Quite relieved now. As I have been doing 30% water change for 3-4 times and 2 times of 90% water change, didn't see much different. Perhaps, I need more water change.

I normally just let it be, just do normal water change once or twice a week. It should be clear by the time finished cycle (about a month). You should not put any fauna inside anyway during the cycling period, only plants.
