Should be ok.. Just feed the male more and i guess should be the same size in no time.

Yeah, they can grow quite fast. I bought my first pair a month or so ago, feed them once a day with bloodworms and live brine shrimp. I recently bought another pair and thought they were huge. Brought them home and my first pair is not that much smaller than them cause they have seriously grown. Then got a stray male...and he was the bigger of the two in his tank, but when I brought him home, he was smaller than the female of the first pair. And he is actually the size of the male of the first pair when I first bought them about a month ago. Does that make sense? I do ramble.
But, the abridged version is, feed them well but be careful of waste as it fouls up the water.

Mine can't even compare with you..
So how's your pair now? Female grown bigger?
Add in some pics share with us soon..
