Usage of UGF for quartz

is it advisable to set up a UGF for dennerle crystal quartz or just more feasible to use a cannister to run the tank as quartz does not break down like soil. I'm looking into setting up a shrimp tank for sakura shrimps and ph should be around 6.8-7 if possible. Any advice or comments please?

You can use UGF with the gravel but you need to lay a net over the UGF plates before adding the gravel on top. It should work for a couple of years but eventually you'll need to clean up the UGF unless you siphon your gravel regularly.

For my 2 feet shrimp tank, i use UGF with Eheim HOF. I fixed the UGF tube to the inlet of the HOF. It works very well. Time to time you will need to clear the filter sponge. Off the motor before remove the sponge.
Yes! You will need to net the UGF before pouring the gravel on it. For me, I use Gex soil. (Red Package)

you just need to put one or two malayan trumpet snail under the panel ( depends one the modular of your under gravel panel ).
thats what i do for my under gravel system.
