Tempreture is around 20degree to 24degree as I have a fan and they are in a aircon room. Colors are bright and red and they are active as usual but have too much chain death over this 3 days....
4th one has departed... Somemore those that dies are the one of high grades. What could have gone wrong? I am dosing excel daily (never over dose based on the instruction) and Mosura mineral plus when I top up or change water, did a 20% change with few days old cycled water but just spotted another motionless dead crs.
I do not have any tester kit with me at the moment as I don't use any of them when I keep cherries but seems like is a must to get those tester for crs? May I know what kind of tester do I need to get and how much per unit? Also do I have to get those +/- PH, KH .... etc stuff and how much they cost?
Btw I am keeping my crs in a glosso foreground and moss ball ard 1.5ft 13litre tank with a gex hang on filter. Experienced brother and sister please advise thanks.![]()

Hi Bro
Is your tank overloaded? There might be an ammonia spike during water change & also the sudden change in the PH if your tank is small 20 % water change can be quite a lot.

wat he means is 13litre x 20% = 2.6 litre of water change is too much for a 1.5 feet tank. do you dose mineral plus or have old sea mud to handle the mineral loss for water change?

Hi S11, if you have chain death, there's a high chance that you have got something in the water, other than ammonia. Don't keep changing your water if u do not know what the problem is as it would stress the shrimps more with changing parameters. Suggest you just get some activated carbon & place it in your HOF to rid the unwanted or excess chemicals that may be present in your water and causing the deaths. Good luck.
it is due too the small water volume you have. lets say if a tank is 200litres, changing 20% will be 40 litres. but the impact won't be as great.

test kits; ammonia, no2, no3, PH, KH, GH each average around $12+-.
you can buy api kh test kit as it can test for gh as well.
i am guessing that yr tank is already fully cycled..
did you add any fertilisers..??.. if yes then that could be it..
water change seems ok to me.. but i hardly changed water when i had crs.. maybe once every 3mths.. just top up for evaporation..
strive for stable condition will be better.. simply dont add or change anything for next 2 weeks..
might only change your carbon filter if its is old.. more than 2mths..
cycled water,, dont understand that.. but if it is tap water that you have left standing over a few days .. hoping that the chlorine will have eveporated.. then you got it wrong.. coz.. we got chloramine in our water..
cheers..

Didn't dose any fertiliser only Seachem Excel is that safe for crs cause I have some glosso newly planted in tank.. Guess I will need to go get those anti cholorine, which brand is recommended? Last time Genesis the yellow small bottle is very famous not sure what is the brand to use now.
ammonia and nitrate is more impt to me. i also change very little water, in fact sometime forgot to change! haha... once stablize, seldom do any test at all.
what's your light wattage?
plants need more than carbon (excel) to grow. if you do not have enough lights & NPK, the glosso and other plants will not be able to use up the excel fast enough. then with daily dosing, the excel accumulation is going to harm your shrimps. in the long run, stunted plants + dead shrimps.

I think you should get the kits to get your answer...
Hi, previously I am using 1x clip on which is 11w and another one at abt 12w, now I had change to 2x T5 8w for my 13litre tank (is it enough or better then my previous light set? Was told T5 is better in the long run). Previously my glosso is growing at a reasonable rate now I just hope that it can grow faster then before.
I also just bought some photo synthetic bacterial solution from sista, will be dosing probably once a week, to further aid in the producing of BB... Any other suggestion on my method is greatly appreciated. Thanks
How long did you have those CRS?
What did you feed them?
Do please take note that they can died from foods that contain copper or lack of iodine for molting.
