Something that you should consider doing is aging your water. in other words, rather than use tap water with anti-chlorine, do that and keep the water in a pail for a few days before using it. Of course, must aerate it. I usually put some ketapang leaves in the pail too so that the water turns brownish. Wild bettas tend to like that.

As for rushing out to get a female, I would hold off for now. No point spending the extra bucks until you are comfortable and ready to do it. For now, take care of your male and learn from this experience. Good luck.

Yes, you can but check on amount. Long time ago, I didn't know that you can kill fish with too much anti-chlorine too. This was before I got into wild bettas. I killed a whole tank full of almost 100 endlers. So sad. All died within minutes some more. Don't overdose on anything.

It is better for you to add antichlorine and aerate the water at the same time.

Seachem prime is good, a little pricey, but it is concentrated so you only need to dose little amount and the good thing is that overdosing is not a problem..

It's up to you. I personally won't use any water from any of my pails that are less than 3 days old. By then the water is nice and brown by the tannins from the ketapang leaves.

Check my water parameter looks ok and ph seems to be on the low side due to CO2 injection. Now i am only left with the male.

My harlequin and cardinal tetras are as usual doing well but the female B.Channoides died =(

Any bro can help me out? My most expensive fish so far and i am only left with the male now...
You can get your new female from green chapter.. If only get female it's only half the price of a pair.
Don't be too sad, a lot of people encounter same problem before. Sometimes not even your fault that your fish die.

Green Chapter/Midori have great quality fish. My first pair of channoides was from them. Cannot go wrong buying from them.

That's true.. I encounter once that I just topup water straight from the tap and my killifish somehow just reacted swimming abnormally and start trying to jump out of the tank, I just add in anti-Chorine and it's fine after few minutes.. If not might find floating or dry up bodys somewhere..

My channoides female also just died about a week ago....
And since then, the male hasn't been eating much. I feed it frozen blood worms it also didn't care...he used to be very voracious at feeding time.
    should I be worried ?

    Re: Betta Channoids

I think we need to keep in mind that wild bettas (as far as I know) are not monogamous fish. They don't mate for life, so I think that any bonds that are built last pretty much during the course of mating/spawning. I had a lone male alone in a tank for a while and he did just fine...he didn't rush for the food anymore because there wasn't anyone to compete for food with him. But just yesterday, I placed him back in a tank with some others...and he started rushing for food again.

Unless there are other conditions that are making him listless, I would not worry too much. Keep monitoring and as long as he does eat, he should be fine.
