    I am trying out some lacterite soil for my crypts, have anyone tried it? I notice alot of out local crypts are found in red coloured soil areas. As such, I am trying them out. Has anyone use it before?

    They are rich in iron. Ideal for most plant, especially those red leaves.

    Yes, from what I read, Laterite is very rich in iron and will release small amount into the water which helps to nourish the plants and prevent plant chlorosis. It should be mixed with the substrate first, and then top-up with the substrate again. Where did you get your aquatic laterite from?
    I saw it at those plant/flower nursery but no aquatic type, or are those able to go underwater too?

    Your lucky to be able to get laterite in Aust. I wish I could get some here in Thailand. When I used it some years ago in Aust. I had very good success with it ( I used DUPLA ). I believe it may be just as good as these "manufactured" substrates that are available now - & for that matter a lot cheaper.
