I was at 63 Lor Halus, 2nd shop to attempt looking for the juvenile.
But I guess the body shape might be too different from the adult for me to tell.

I'll check it out again tomorrow and post exact location tomorrow after more tips from LSZ

When you enter the shed of No63 "farm" , walk to the rightmost rows of fish ( when you face the opening of the shed ).
These are where most of the africans ( the hard water with coral chips fish you were mentioning about ) are mainly housed.
Look at the bottom row tanks on the right side. Its on the lowest tier and should be about 5-8 tanks in from the 1st tank at the opening of the shed.
Actually we did take a pic of the tank , i will try to get it up as soon as i can so perhaps it will be easier for you toidentify it.

I think I bought the correct fish today. They are $2 each and mandarin name is called Gang1 Guo3 (Literal Translation: Strong Fruit)

Has distinct blue snakeskin like markings on cheeks and fish is generally yellow. Upon closer look, can see a blue sheen on the body also. Looks like a fantastic fish.

LSZ, the details are as follows

    Toh Boon Chang Tropical Fish

    Hp: 96631546 (Aden Toh)

For CNY, they will reopen on Thursday or Friday. Call to check

I got a similar fish too, except that the blue stripes do not extend to the head. For info, the females are yellowish and a few spots of blue on the body only.[]

Yahoo! Can't wait for the day when the dominant male colors up to that speciment in Pet Safari.

The fishes are in my barrack holding area until I can get a 2' tank for them.

According to the shop assistant, he said they are aggressive and will attack other fishes, thus their current holding area.

Currently, they seems to have adjusted to the location, but they have also lost all their colors! I hope I managed to get a couple of males.

After I started catching them with the net at the LFS, all of them started to lose color, thus had difficulty choosing the male

hey, i have that fish... so this is the golden dwarf cichlid?

    Simon
Yup, that's the golden dwarf cichlid.
How come you have it already but didn't know?

I've just taken out the driftwood. I think it's been unused too long and leeching something toxic.

Noticed that most of my bettas in the tank are not lively.
I'll do a water change tomorrow as it's too late tonight.
I've added in some carbon filter though

Hi! I saw the pics posted in your discussion. Just to share my 2 cts worth. Apparently, it appears this is a cross between A. caetei & A. reticulosa. There is no name given as of yet. This specimen was first bred in commercial farms either from S'pore or M'sia. No one exactly knew who crossed it or was it a product by accident. In addition, seems like the breeder did not release any females into the market for this specimen so, we could wait or, we could wait..

The golden eye dwarf is nannacara anomala. It is a long established pure breed, which is what a good cichlid book told me after i checked again. It is the fish i saw at pet safari.

The golden eye is not an apisto in the first place.

But apparently A.Moae have had some experience with the dwarfs in the pic, which i had thought are the youngs of the golden dwarf. A.Moae you said they are from apistos, means i am very far off coz i had been looking at a fish i thought to be non-apisto at all.

Vican if thats the case i apologise i can buy over them from you.

    A.Moae, confirm ?

thank you artvale for searching for the pics for us.

Now this is the golden dwarf pics pic
thats where i made my judgement from.

    Saw the A.Caetei.
    Many strong traits too.

I had taken a pic of the fish at petsafari, which i am 100% sure is a N.Anomala male...will try to post it up once i find the pic.

Thanks A.Moae for the pointer, learnt something abt this hybrid.

    Thanks!!!

    Guess i finally identified my fishes. [] [:0] []
They look more like A. reticulosa, based on the face, body markings and the body shape. So 99.9% sure...

Just wanted to share the right info that's all []
Say, you guys all into dwarfs? Regretfully, not many local LFS sell them in S'pore. I've read some postings from Simon or benetay if I could recall correctly, seems they know quite a bit about dwarfs as well. Perhaps the real experts could share a bit about breeding behaviours of the specimens they're keepin'. You know, like water parameters, temperature, food, tank size etc.

    Cheers!
