Lets put a smile on that face

yes, they are dirt cheap. bought one pack of 50 at C328 for $5 i think. if not is max $8.
I have been told that Rosy Barbs will eat hair algae. Anyone have any experience with them in a planted tank?
My choice, otos and yamatos, I find these fellas are a reliable lot.
...I love rubies too ...

my usual algae crew, Oto/yamato shrimp/maybe a garra.

any recommendations for green spot algae?

some say nerite snails help to clear green spot algae.. i haven't try it out.. will try it out soon.. for me i used either a sponge or toothbrush to scrape away the green spot... faster

Otos will clear the brown algae on the tank glass. Just had 2 otos into a 2 footer smeared with brown and it was gone overnight!

Hi....I had a bad algae problem, BBA and BGA for 2 months. I did a complete 100% water change, suck out as much algae as I can, got every algae eating fish and shrimp I can get my hands on. Now no more BGA, the BBA is diminishing, now worry soon not enough algae to keep them alive!

Nerite snail is good for cleaning green spot algae, but they will lay eggs around rock, wood and glass.
Very difficult to get rid of the eggs. Just be prepared to see green spots been replaced by white spots.
Finally started my first tank

The fastest and easiest way to control algae is to use 1st duckweed, 2nd amazonian frog bits, 3rd water hyacinth or water lettuce. The good old theory of plants vs algae never fails. just throw away the excess plants once they flood the surface.

True, I had the same issues too, but I rather clear them than algae. I normally use them at the start and clear them when my stem plants mature. I normally use amazonian frog bits for most times. Easy to remove and provide good sanctuary for my shrimplets.

Hi, anyone seen any otos recently in any lfs? nearer to the west would be appreciated. Thanks!
