    Re: Harmony Garden

Is that Mr Jiang? Looks like he finally caught a fish, and a nerite too!

Very beautifully done tank bro. A very garden/bonsai style scape.

By the way, can you help me ID that background plant on the left rear of the tank, right behind Mr Jiang? I've been keeping it but the LFS only gave me a number for the name! But good trick trapping it behind that rock, I'm doing it in my office tank too cause that plant just spreads like a weed!
And what is that coconut tree looking plant in the left foreground?? Thanks!

Plant in the left background behind the fisherman looks like Hornwort / Cabomba?

The coconut in the foreground looks like Downoi, but I might be wrong on both counts.

Cute scape, but some plants seem to be stretching from lack of light, what lighting are you running for this tank?

Confirmed not hornworts bro...its a rooted plant with very very long and deep roots, sends out runners all over the tank (even tunneling under rocks) and grows very fast.
It also closes up its apical leaves at night.
I think you're right bout the Cabomba! Thanks!

The plant behind Jiang Tai Kong is cabomba, pretty nice and easy to grow. I have trimmed it several times and replant the younglings which will grow up very soon in the same lot. The plant that looks like coconut tree was because the bottom leaves were all peeled off leaving the stem bare. Its actual plant is actually covered from top to bottom with long needle leaves of pink underneath and light green on top….quite attractive. I am waiting for the water clover to grow under the “coconut tree” …hahaha

It is not Downoi….but something else I can't remember. Saw them selling in rainbow at serangoon,

I am using T5 HO aquazonic light 16w X 2. If I switched on the two tubes, it is too bright and my tank tend to have algae on wall and on leaves. Unfortunately (or fortunately) one of the tube socket is not working and now I relied only on one 16w tube switched on 13hr daily. No aglae and the plants are doing fine with regular trimming every fortnight. Oh yes, most plants like to arch towards the brighter side of the tank and that creates different attractive postures not vertical or horizontal.

    Thanks for complementing.
