The cheaper option will be those normal glass tank with 6mm thick. Some bro use styrofoam at the sides and back of the tank to insulate. For customising the tank, look at the commerical marketplace for tank makers.
Was thinking to make a customised tank. the size is 18.25" (L) by 14.5" (D) by 15" height.
the L and D is limited by where i wanna put the tank, but the height is adjustable. why 15" is because according to what i read, a 2feet tank is the minimum for a stable CRS environment. the above calculation will be more than 52L of water including substrates. a standard 2ft tank (assuming 2X1X1) should be 54L of volume (max bare tank volume)
a standard 5 plan tank should do. what glass thickness should i go for. I read there are some glass with resin coating to reduce scratches. are they very expensive? Thicker glass will reduce heat exchange and thus able to keep the tank cooler and chiller kick-in less often? what is the standard glass thickness?
what kind of pricing am i looking at for such a size tank? and where can i go for the customisation?
Appreciate any advice

thanks. i already got C328 to make for me. just normal 5 plan tank.
if not get ocean free 2 x1 x1 feet tank ( with bracing ) good nice and cheap too.
can see my thread, the one on the top or my shrimp rack.![]()

i was also thinking of standard size tank. but the location i intent to put the tank is not of 2ft. nowhere else to house my tank at home.... unless i sacrifice my chinchilla cage.... then my wife will scream at me
its just around 1/2 a feet more space. shouldn't be a problem ba. woot, i guess you can skip chiller for your hardware wor.

that 1/2 feet is causing the problem. i am putting on top of my TV console (also customised). It has 2 slightly raised platform on the side. using the right side to keep put the tank. chiller intent to put it below next to the platform.
design already firm. using submissible pump (with sponge at the inlet) to send water into chiller. outlet of chiller will go into my HOF (passive mode, no pumping). think it should look neat. hopefully.... haha.
now is contemplating the GEX or Teco chiller. posted in another post waiting for comments.
hmm.. if not you can just go for a 18 inch feet cube tank. that will be just nice. which make up to slightly less than 100 liters. better for chiller and canister too.
hmm. i thought if you keep chinchila, they will need cool temperature as well?

the problem with the platform is that its 18.25" by 15". height is no problem so a 18" cube is also out of the question. so i customised a 18.25"L by 14.5"D (to let the wire run behind) by 15"H tank. Height is the only way i can control the volume, but too tall also will have problem with lights reaching the floor right? i intent to use those low power LED clip on light for moss/fissiden only in the tank. I am a green person.... :P
As for chinchilla, i got from local breeder. they can take up to about 30 degree room temperature. never never get those US import, they cannot take the temperature and will probably die. Mine should be 3rd generation local breed
if u interested in 1, can pm me, i let u know where is the shop. go look see look see also can, the boss and staff all very friendly.
haha, i rather busy with my shrimp rack. If i get 1 more chinchila, my 1 cat, 2 dogs 2 tank of fishs, 3 tank of shrimps will kill me. hmm i guess you can only get a you ideal tank size. you confirm need bracing for your tank.

need bracing? the shop told me not required.. he say its like 2ft tank volume of water only. standard 2X1X1 also no bracing needed right? if need bracing? just the top can? bottle already design to fit nicely already. go where to do?
erm.. just to play safe la. without bracing confirm looks nicer. if not how come so many old tanks with bracing can last to now?

ooooo, better don't let her come across this post. haha
good luck to your setup. waiting for your thread on your tank.
