    Hi mariners,

I am scouting around for 2ft or 1ft marine setup. Yupp...I do understand the difficuties for less water buffering problems. Have do some reading at the FAQ. I am keeping planted tanks and once kinda of giving them up but eventually dropped that idea.

    Now hand itch...heh heh heh...
My shallow understanding about marine thingie is:
To get a 2ft or 1 ft tank
A ehiem wet and dry filter
PL lights with white and blue tubes
    a chiller
Place in a protein skimmer (dunno how to do it which to buy?)
    Buy miniture livestock (small tank)
A pail to mixed sea salt and water

    Like that can do?
Also where is best or better place to source for all this?

    Thanks

i do recommend going minimum a 2ft an nothing less.. u will very soon see that u cant have alot of things and u want to upgrade it to a bigger tank... go for the biggest tank u can afford.. set a budget.. i have a 2ft seahorse tank in my room and a 4ft Fish only tank in my living room.

To get a 2ft or 1 ft tank
A ehiem wet and dry filter
PL lights with white and blue tubes
hope u not talking abt those LH kind of lights.. they are useless unless u dun keep corals except LR and fishes.
    a chiller
wat are u keeping.. corals will need ard 26-29 degree max, if fishes alone, they can withstand up to 30
    Place in a protein skimmer
dun understand.. but if u are talking abt buying a PS and with budget constraint, get ORCA from petmart will suffice.
    Buy miniture livestock (small tank)
marine fishes are more terriorial.. small tank like 2ft means only 2 fishes max.. u need to cater for growth. me only have 1 seahorse inside my 2ft tank with 2 snails

    Hi Kel,

Thanks, btw what do u mean by 'LH' = light hood?
I am thinking of those lighting set with light tubes in a slim casing using electronic ballast. This type can?

As for chiller, u mean I dun nit one? because I have one sitting around after I bought the teco micro. If not nit then I can sell it away, wife will be very happy[]

I was at Marina sq few days back and saw this wall hanging reef and also planted tank aquarium. It is only 13cm width protruding from the wall and can have 5.5 ft lenght. It really looks pleasing to the eyes. Like a live picture. I thought it would be an ideal piece for home. But again what's your opinion?

I was attracted to the design and it does not take up much space. Also it did not cost very much. For a 5.5ft and all that is in it equips.and live stock is approx.$1000.

Some detail I got from him: it uses UGF and a slim internal filter.

I mean those Lou Han kind of lights.

like i mentioned, the lights intensity is the key, any casing will do

depends on what is the temp and corals that u are talking abt.. me not using chiller coz me dun keep corals.

it dun work.. using UGF is like a time bomb.. it will leach back after a long while..

think for yourself, can a slim internal filter have the power to circulate the water of 5.5ft? even if u can get one, the capacity of the filter is not able to support it right.. u probably have to clean it once every 2 days.

    Hi Kel,

I guess I better not go into the wall mounted tank. After all the advise I should get tank ideally 2ft at least. Thanks
