    Dear brothers,

my tank was recently infested by white spot recently killing almost all my cardinal tetras. Add in salt and raising the temp to 86 degrees f to no avail. Was worried that the shrimps that i'm rearing together with my cardinal tetras might b affected by the white spot. Please advise

If not mistaken it should not effect your shrimps but the salt you put in and 86 degree f probably will effect your shrimps.

Remove the cardinal tetras and put in another tank.
    Then cure them

Those parasites will sometimes get mounted onto your shrimps (my shrimps got mounted) but since the shrimps molt (from what i read and experience), they will not be affected in the end. So no worries.

Re: will white spot b spread to shrimps?

Hey guys, may I ask? I'm currently dealing with a white spot problem of my own in a mixed tank of tetra's, corys and shrimp. What do you guys usually do to cure them? So far the only medication I've found is waterlife - Protozin which is supposed to be dangerous to shrimp?

    Got any other suggestions?

    Sorry to hijack bro.

My fish is normally tetra, so it is not worth to give medication to bunch of cheap tetra. OK, it sound cruel . Anyway I normally isolate the sick fish. If I'm lucky, it recover, if not then just throw it away.

Am pretty inexperienced with planted tanks, but f you introduce salt and raises the temperature, would it be harmful to the plants
I too faces the same problem with my double sword tails and removing them would affect the landscape done.
    Any advice? Thank you.
