I've built a cool aquarium canpy hood lift system
I also designed and have built a reliable and sleek looking automatic lift for raising and lowering aquarium canopies.

    Check it out!

Cool stuff here BUT i have questions.

1 . I visited your www.aquatic3.com and read briefly on your invention. I believe that this is not a hydraulic system. Should the actuator decides to fail while maintenance is being carried out, is there any safety valve in place to prevent tragedy from happening? I do not see a one way check valve in your kit set.

    2. Also I notice that the rail was shaking when it reaches the top and during descent, there was also visible vibration. Again are there any safety damper in place to avoid all that vibration from cracking/knocking onto the tank?

Please pardon me because in my previous job, I was into lifting and hydraulic.

But nevertheless a good and useful tool to have if all the necessary safety features are in place?

    Just my 2 cents worth.

Yes...it's an actuator electric motor, not hydraulic.

When I shot this video, it was literally 24hrs after first installation...since then it's much smoother...but 100%. What you need to realize is that it shacks when it gets to the top...you don't have to go 30". Also, remember...it's 30" up and 34" of not support behind tank or walls. It's 60 lbs. at about 60" high. The entire frame is in a "H"...so very sturdy and can't fall over. In the event of failure, the actuator can release from frame very easily. Or you can disconnect from frame. The idea is that it can be customized to fit most size tanks and stand set-ups. The other point is that it is only 1.75" wide. Very thin and does not take up allot of room. A little bobble is very minimal for the convenience.
