I was thinking of doing two of 3x1x1 and a few partitions. Now i am thinking to use canister or to use sump tank. I ask a tank maker, he told me that sump might be too strong for shrimps and advise me to use a canister instead. Anyone have this setup kindly advise?

ok i have made up my mind. to do two 36inchx14inchx12inch tank. top with 3 partitions below with 2 partitions. Top tank going be a overflow system to the bottom tank. and bottom tank connect to a canister then to a chiller and back to the top tank.

Hope it works.

haha. yes, plan well before doing it. example like,
-how you going to make the overflow from the top to the bottom tank?
-calculate the flow rate you wants for your rack system and check if your overflow system able to cope with the flow rate( i recommand at least 1200 lph external canister )
-then get a chiller that can cope with the flow rate you calculated. cl650 seems fine for your tank size. bro nasty12 is selling it lei. grab it fast. haha.

Planning to get ehiem pro 2 2028. But the top flow to the bottom tank how to calculate the flow rate?

hmm from your size of your project, i don't think you got any budget constrain. there are some overflow box which you can buy off shelve ( pricey, i can't bring myself to buy a plastic box which is so expensive ). most of them are rated more than 1000 lph and above.

Found those overflow boxes you mention previously. But they seems to be a bit too big for our 1ft tank. The length is already about 20 cm. oh man. they looks good without having me drilling holes in my tank.
