    Hi Guys,

Share your procedure on how you handle when you meet a sudden increase or a sudden drop in pH...and how you maintain it after getting the require pH.

    Thanks for sharing....

For me i make use of diy co2. pH of my crs tank will shoot up. But I uses my diy co2 to maintain it at mid 6. I put the diffuser near to the water surface to reduce the amt of co2 diffused into the water. Don't know if it works but its looking fine for me.. Yup.

As for my TFR/Sakura tank, I experience too low pH. So I added in some coral chips to bring up and maintain it.

As for my sulawesi, I used coral sand.. so not much problems with the pH.

But if it's a real sudden spike, look out for things that caused it to spike. I'll usually make water change and monitor it closely.

If still cannot, I'll use my lifeline and CALL FOR HELP! lol..

    yah i know.
Your fire red goes to the CRS tank ( remove your CO2 ) and your CRS goes into the lower pH fire red tank.

Use sodium bicarbonate (baking soda, not baking powder) to raise KH. That will reduce the amount of pH swing for whatever reasons.

Have you found out what causes the change it pH? I did read somewhere that some regions of SG has very low pH on some days. So don't take the pH of our tap water for granted.

I used to use pH controller and a canister with peat and peat moss to control pH.

A pH controller, not something it can really control pH alone, was used to turn on a canister filter filled with peat and peat moss when the pH fell below the preset point. And it worked very well.

The same method can be applied to control pH dropped below certain value. But this time, need a relay to drive the canister in a opposite ph range and fills the canister with coral chips.
