Hey guys, wouldn't it be even better if we can include the shrimps' individual info like care difficulty, diet, water preference etc and best if we can include an estimated price range?

erm, estimated price range will be difficult to include as the price keep changing. 1 year ago, i got 10 A grade CRS at 100 dollars. now 1 A grade is like 2-2.5 dollars?

why not we put the price and then the month/year as reference?

good for members, especially mountain turtle like me, to know roughly the price of shrimps and also serve as a reference, if not like me kena warned for asking seller such question!

Ya...price kind of difficult...water parameter and diet still ok....

For me...I only keep CRS & BDS...

CRS & BDS prefer soft acidic and clean water. Water temperature is between 23-26 degree, pH range from 6.2 to 6.8, gH between 4-6 and kH should be between 1-2. The water parameter become even more important to higher grades shrimps...

CRS/BDS is a scavenger and a algae eater...I myself keep plenty of Mosses in my CRS tank and once awhile feed them with Mosura food.

That's great. Seems like we are having our own thread of shrimps info soon.

An estimated price range is good enough, better than nothing. For example I never understood or imagined King Kongs to be >$200.

Keep up the good work shrimperts(shrimp experts) b

Prices from LFS or Forum Market Place??? Anyway...it's really hard to state the price. Right now...a CRS price can very from few dollars to a few hundreds and once up to thousand. So it's really hard to monitor...

Look at this below....how much do you think this kind of quality will cost??? And do you see this kind of high grade selling in LFS???

    Jimmy,
why not try to find out more your own self rather than waiting for people to give answer? just try to camp in the marketplace more and you will easily find out whats the price range like. If not, go to different LFS to compare price.

i did that when i started rearing shrimps. Tampines, Balastier , Clementi. just roam around the island to learn more.

Re: Bros...let's contribute some photos on different breed of shrimps...

In May 2009 a pair of Black King Kong Shrimp were sold for US$ 8,500 at auction. Why so high? Simply a case of supply and demand. Presently breeders of this attractive little decapod crustacean can only breed fewer than 100 or so a month and the survival rate is less than 10%. Whilst the demand exceeds availability then the price will remain high. The Red King Kong Shrimp was already popular and is both more common and, naturally cheaper than its darker cousin.
The shrimp hobbyists are very keen to acquire something which is just that little bit different and outside of auctions a price of US$ 1,500 are not unusual. Prices for pregnant females are much higher in spite of the risks and extra work involved. The aim of course is to breed successfully, to hit on the formula for success. The normal lifespan for this small, in the region of 2 centimetre shrimp, is less than two years.
There is no argument that such creatures are attractive and have a special and interesting beauty. However they are not natural. They have been created by selective breeding to produce something which is rare and different. It is not unlike the production of white tigers or the numerous colour morphs in birds and reptiles. Undoubtedly very clever and whilst feeding a demand they are doing nothing at all for conservation.
It would be far better if the the unarguable skills and expertise of breeders were utilised to the
breeding of natural marine and aquatic life so that we will be in a position to re-stock the wild once we have repaired the damage we have done.

Create a proper template and format (like the Fish Shop Directory). Make sure you have permission for all the photos. Also make sure not to plagiarise from other sites. Create one post for each shrimp.

Including prices is probably NOT a good idea as that moves with time. Supply and demand in the markets should determine that.

When we upgrade to Vbulletin 4.0 (waiting for some key plug-ins to be ready), it will have a proper article section. We can convert the posts into proper articles.

The main thing now is a proper format for the posts.

yup, that's what i am doing now, ask here ask there and search around a lot. just that i thought it will help others too if there is one stop place for all to reference and for me to share with others my findings but i think it is difficult based on what i encountered, so i will just remain so.
