Should be a cross between agassizzi super red and agassizzi white seam or tefe

Nice beautiful pics.. Really very big different with or without flash.
I personally prefer without flash as the red more juicy..

I also think there are tefe genes inside, but the combination of both patterns has very nice results

I like the blue fins of the picture with flash, but red is pretty awesome too

Where you got them from? Maybe can ask the breeder did he/she mix the strains?

C328 has brought in several similar males in the past year. I must say the local farm quality has picked up recently

I suspect most lfs got it from Aqleader-Malaysia bred farm.
You guys can check their website at www.aqleader.com.my
it's very difficult to order direct from them cos they need to protect our lfs, our distributors

They have to.. Imagine Bridgestone sell their tyres cheaply to us, the end-user, and undercut the Ah Yap Tyre Shop, and Justin Tyre Shop.. Do you think the LFSs will close down very soon?

Also, deal with one person (shop) is better than deal with 10 persons (end-user).

    20% work , 80% returns. Business sense

    No offense to jssl

    Re: Apistogramma agassizzi

My agassizzis bred!!! Very excited about it. The female is also from this white seam variety, wonder what will the fries look like?

In addition, how to take care of the fries??

    Thanks in advance

    Re: Apistogramma agassizzi

First action usually would be to remove the male 'gently' with minimal disturbance to the female or fries. The male probably would be by itself at one corner by now. So it's quite easy to net it.

But sometimes, the parents are able to co-exist as it's quite common that the female might be too agressive, resulting to the death of the male. If you wish to leave the male in the tank, provide LOTS OF SHELTER/obstacle like plants, pvc tubes, rocks so that they dont get to see each other, thus less violent act.

I had an Inka spawn where i purposely left the male in the tank to observe the female's character. In the beginning she was abit nasty and the male had some torn fins. After awhile, the female was still chasing away the male but not as violent as before. And the male didnt harm the fries, so i guess that's why the female let him 'stay alive' in the same tank

After 3-4 weeks, I used an airhose to 'harvest' these fries when I think they're tough enough to be switch to a new tank by themselves.

What you need to do now, source for microworm/walter worm culture unless you already have them. should be able to feed them 2-3 days after free swimming.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for your detailed advice! My apistos bred in a 2x2x1.5 feet tank with some green/gold lasers, another caca male and lots of dither endlers and tetras. Right now I'm leaving the male in the tank as there is plenty of space to run from the aggressive female, plus the male itself is defending a larger radius around the cave. Quite interesting!

N.B. I decided to add one ketapang leaf to shade and block the cave(which is in one corner of the tank next to the front glass) and seems like after I delineated the new boundaries for the female to defend, she is happy to just defend the area around the leaf.

Is it ok to use baby brine shrimp to feed?

    Re: Apistogramma agassizzi

Hey there Sam, great going with the spawn. I've kept agassizii for many times before this but have never been able to spawn them, which is odd.

I discovered that depending on the species, you might need to use smaller foods, such as microworms, in order to get higher survival in the fry count. Hope to see you delve deeper into the apisto depths.
