I am still planning for a 5/6ft. I like those MH sets from Bioplast (the one he uses over his big guppy-infested show tank). Does anyone know if the set comes with 2 or 3 150W bulbs? If only 2 (i.e. 300W) isn't it kind of low for a 5ft (only a little more than 2W per gal)?

Oh and most important, any idea what $$?

bioplast has 2x150MH or 2x150MH with a 9watt PL in the centre...
IMO, when using MH, the 3watts per gal goes out of the window []

alamak! what's the point of 9W PL alongside MH!? [:0]

juggler, permit still not granted, but the lobby groups are working hard, and most legislators are not expected to oppose the bill, the head of state did not threaten to use her veto powers, although budget has not been allocated. [] [] []

Actually the MH used by bioplast is meant for marine tank. For deep.... tank. Thats why high wattage is needed. My friend got one for his 5 footer. The centre portion is meant for night time blue artinic light effect. If I am not wrong, Mr Gan is also selling 4-5 footer type.

Mr Gan's tank is using the pendant type, he is using 75watts each only. he told me that no need to be so high wattage. His plants is growing very too. I was thinking mayb 150 watts might be too high and contribute to unnessary rise in water temp and PUB cost. Any comments?

Why dont u use the pendant type? Cheaper n less bulky but has to mount or hang the lamp.

errr.. vanilia, which Gan's tank u referring to? if u referring to his 6ft, its 2x150watts.. we got him to get the stuff we asked for and we mount the lights and setup the tank

those MH from bioplast is meant for either marine or planted, the middle PL tube can be swap to a white light used for maintenance

Precisely I am hoping to avoid any drilling. So David, can the Bioplast MH set be mounted over the tank on pedestals?

You know it is much easier to push a bill through the legislators if it is environmental friendly, i.e. no drilling, no cabling all over, no strange dangling thing that doesn't go with the decor, etc, etc. [:]

    Halow hwchoy!

Maybe you wanna spend some extra cash to make a stand to hang your lights? Like you, I din wanna drill any holes so I made an inverted L shaped stainless steel stand and wrap black "wall paper" around it to make it look "classier". Then my dad and I "kapok" bricks from construction site and wrapped them up using the same black tape as well to press onto the base. Too bad I got no digicam, else can show it to you. Juz let me know if you wish to take a look at it.

    Cheers!
